Dennis Chung

Dennis Chung

Chairman

Chartered Accountant, Author, Writer, Recreational Cyclist, Chairman of the NSWMA Board of Directors is just a few of the hats worn daily by Dennis Chung. He is the Chief Financial Officer at Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL). Mr. Chung has a reputation for implementing strategic changes in organizations aimed at improving accountability and transparency and for leading teams that get the work done. These experience and skills will be required as he works to bring about needed change at the NSWMA.

An expert on matters about finance, economics and social development, he is called on extensively to present on varying subject areas within the Caribbean. Mr. Chung is the past president of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) and an affiliate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica where he has been a council member since 2005.

Additionally, he is currently a director at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean and GK Capital Management Limited and since 2000, has served on several boards in both the private and public sectors including the Bank of Jamaica and Jamaica Urban Transportation Corporation- the islands public transportation company.

Linley Reynolds

Mr. Reynolds is a professional banker with over thirty years experience. He has worked with the Scotiabank Group (Jamaica) for all of his professional banking career. Having held various positions such as Branch Manager, Senior Relationship Manager and Assistant General Manager and having worked in most parishes, he has extensive knowledge of Jamaica’s business landscape.

 He places significant emphasis on business development and relationship banking and has utilized this strategy to expand and enhance market share and profitable relationships. The professional advice he has given over the years has benefitted many businesses over a wide cross section of industries.

 Outside of banking, his professional linkages have included being a Board member of Grace Missionary Church, Board member of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, Committee member (Strategic oversight committee, Business Department) of the Montego Bay Community College and Executive member of the Jamaica Badminton Association.

 

Daphne Hurge

Ms. Daphne Hurge O.D, J.P has over thirty (30) years of management and leadership experience working in the public sector; specifically, at the local authority level within Kingston and St. Andrew. During this period, some areas of responsibilities included the day-to-day operations of nineteen (19) markets and arcades, vending regulation in Downtown Kingston, garbage collection and disposal along with the maintenance of gullies and beautification projects in Mandela, St. William Grant and Papine Parks and also Mandela Highway median.

Since the mid 1960’s, Ms. Hurge has developed programmes aimed at delivering life skills to youths and young adults in Western Kingston- a community that she is passionate about and one that she continues to work alongside- with no end date in mind.

An active member of the Anglican Church, Ms. Hurge is a member of NSWMA Corporate Governance Committee and has served on the Boards of the Social Development Commission, Nutrition Products, Church of the Holy Spirit Basic School, Denham Town Primary School, and Institute of Sports. 

 

 

Dr. Charlene Sharpe

Director

Charlene Sharpe, currently serves as an associate professor and associate vice president academics at Northern Caribbean University.  A Fulbright Scholar with a PhD in Geography (Rutgers University), her research is at the intersection of food security, environmental management, community resilience, sustainability, climate change and disaster management. Dr. Sharpe holds a master’s degree with distinction from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Natural Resource Management- Integrated Urban and Rural Environmental Management. With over 20 years of administrative experience in higher education, she co-chairs, the University Council of Jamaica’s (UCJ) – Graduate Curriculum Standards Committee and serves as a member of the Manchester Municipal Council (formerly the Manchester Parish Council), Local Economic Development Parish Advisory Committee (LED-PAC) that has primary responsibility to advise, assess, monitor, and evaluate implementation of sustainable LED activities including sustainable production in the parish.

The author of numerous articles, Dr. Sharpe has presented at numerous conferences and has actively participated in bringing a voice to issues of national development in Jamaica.

 

Norman Brown

An astute businessman with over seventeen (17) years of logistics and distribution experience, Mr. Brown is known as a great organizer with excellent time management skills and has a reputation of getting the job done. 

A NSWMA board member since 2016, he is the Chairman of the Audit Committee. Mr. Brown is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ), Chairman of the Board of Governors for Glendevon Primary and Junior High School and is a member of the St. James Lay Magistrates Association. 

Norman Brown is an advocate on a mission to reform and develop communities, and is extremely passionate about this. This is evident by the number of hours he dedicates to working as a member of the Board of Governors for the Peace Management Initiative (PMI) in Western Jamaica.

 

 

Camille Facey

Camille Marr Facey is Managing Partner at the law firm FACEYLAW where she specializes in company and commercial law, corporate governance, telecommunications, conveyancing, trusts and estates. 

Prior to FACEYLAW she spent ten years at Cable & Wireless, initially as a Senior Vice President and later as Regional Vice President with responsibility for Legal, Regulatory & Public Policy in Jamaica and the Northern Caribbean. Before C&W she spent eighteen years in publicly traded companies in the financial sector holding positions such as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at what is today Sagicor Bank.   

Camille currently chairs the Building Practitioners Board established under the new Building Act and at the NSWMA she chairs the Corporate Governance Committee. She serves as a Director on the boards of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, the Spectrum Management Authority and Youth Reaching Youth (a registered charity). She also serves as a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of the PSOJ, is one of the advisors to small businesses in the JBDC Accelerator Programme as well as being a member of the Commercial Law Committee of the Jamaica Bar Association.  

Camille is the Immediate Past President of the International Women’s Forum (Jamaica Chapter) and a former Deputy Chair of CANTO (Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Organizations). She has also served as a member of the Boards of Directors of National Development Foundation of Jamaica; Universal Access Fund Company and Arts Foundation of the Edna Manley College amongst others.

 

 

Dwight Ricketts

Dwight Ricketts is a Professional Engineer, with over twenty-five (25) years of experience in engineering and management working in both private and the public sectors. Mr. Ricketts currently holds the post of Senior Manager for Field Operations and Procurement at the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) which is a leading Project Management arm for the Government of Jamaica.  As a member of the Senior Management team at JSIF, Mr. Ricketts is committed to applying his engineering and managerial skills in rural and urban areas in terms of building capacity, empowering persons, and the implementation of sustainable infrastructure in several communities across Jamaica. 

Engineer Ricketts is the Immediate Past President of Jamaica Institution of Engineers (JIE). He is also a Board Director for the Caribbean Sustainable Energy and Innovation Institute (CSEII) at the University of Technology.   His involvement in community service includes; building capacity for the Scout Association of Jamaica, where he currently serves as Chairman of the St. Andrew Local Association as well as a member of the National Executive Committee. 

He is the holder of a Master of Engineering Degree specializing in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Guelph, Canada and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Engineering from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago. 

 

Delroy Williams

His Worship, the Mayor, Senator and Councilor Delroy Williams, was appointed Director to the Board of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) in April 2016. He serves as Chairman of the Human Resource Committee and is also a member of the Audit Committee of the NSWMA. Over the course of his tenure, he has assisted the organization in achieving growth and development. Mr. Williams was appointed Senator in the Upper House in March 2016 and was elected the 53rd Mayor of Kingston on December 15, 2016. Mayor Williams is actively involved in various social enterprises such as community based organizations and national initiatives. 

He has served the Seivwright Gardens Division in West Central St. Andrew as Councilor since 2003 and has extended his leadership and management skills to the Olympic Gardens Football Club among others. Complementing his strategic business acumen and his emphatic leadership qualities are his academic achievement and his dedication to promoting a vibrant local economy which would overtime strengthen our communities. He believes Jamaica’s strength comes from the diversity of its people and the beauty of its natural resources and through this, a better quality of live can be achieved for all Jamaicans.

 

Donovan Samuels

Councillor for the Tivoli Division since April 2012, Mr. Donovan Samuels is a trained teacher with almost twenty (20) years of stellar contribution to the HEART Trust/NTA where he worked in varying positions including that of Training Agent, Placement and Monitoring Officer and Recruitment and Placement officer.

A community activist for the past thirty five years, Mr. Samuels is a member of the NSWMA Human Resource Committee and Technical and Operations Committee. He is also a member of the board of Nutrition Products Limited and has served as a board member of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund, St Andrew Technical High School and the Tivoli Gardens High School.

 

Gabrielle Wilks

Ms. Gabrielle Wilks has been practicing as an Attorney-at-Law for over 11 years and is currently employed to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development Legal Services Division, where her primary focus is to provide general legal advice to the Ministry, the fourteen (14) Local Authorities and five (5) Agencies. In addition, Ms. Wilks also assists with the organization and coordination of the review, amendment and proclamation of
legislation for which the Ministry has responsibility.

Ms. Wilks sits as the NSWMA Board representative from the Ministry with effect from January 2018.

Before joining the Ministry, Ms. Wilks worked at the Ministry of Justice as a Clerk of Court where she was responsible for the effective preparation and prosecution of criminal matters in the Resident Magistrate (now Parish) and Children’s Courts of St. Catherine and Portland.

Ms. Wilks brings to the Board expertise in civil, criminal and contract law, amongst other areas. In her leisure time Ms. Wilks enjoys poetry, reggae music and is heavily involved in benevolent and community service activities.

Willard Hylton

Mr. Willard Hylton is an entrepreneur with almost thirty (30) years of sales experience.

Extremely passionate about public speaking and journalism, Mr. Hylton is a member of the NSWMA Human Resource Committee and also a board member at the Jamaica Library Services.

His love for service was developed when he was appointed the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) President of the Iona High School before being appointed to its Board of Directors. This paved the way for subsequent appointments as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the St. Mary Parish Development Committee and the Boscobel Skills Training Centre.

Mr. Deniss Chung

Mr. Chung holds a Masters in Accounting from thr Univeraity if the West Indies and completed the Certified Public Accountant exams in the State of Califormia. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, where he is a past president, and has sat on numerous public and private and sector boards. He currently sits on Petrojam and other private sector boards and is a director of the Jamaica Football Federation. He also is known for economic and financial commentary in the media.

Mr. Linley Reynolds

Mr. Reynolds undertook various Banking Exams while studying at Emile Woolf College of Banking and Accountancy, in the UK during 1990 – 1992. He rejoined the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1992 where he initially spent ten years and there he continued to develop and honed his banking skills. During 2007 he attained his MBA from the University of Manchester – UK. As a former Scotia Banker for an aggregate of thirty-seven years he progressively moved through the ranks and rose to the level of Assistant General Manager. He led various teams in the Corporate, Commercial and Retail Banking Units. Throughout his tenure he developed expertise in Credit Analysis and Financial Management, Sales Management, Change Management and People Management.


Today he continues in Banking as a Consultant. He also lends support to Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSME’s) towards greater governance and structural reforms towards efficiency and better financial planning / management and reporting. He currently is an Elder of Grace Missionary Church and a Director of the Missionary Church Association of Jamaica where he is the Chairman of the Finance Committee.

She serves as the Associate Vice President for Academics at the Northern Caribbean University. She serves on several private entity boards and holds membership in a few environmental NGOs.
